What are the elements of a successful environment?
What goes into the ideal design solution?
The answer that I've come up with so far is made of many shades. All of the elements that are needed for a successful environment - programming, technology, schematics, research, psychology, colors, textures, impact on the environment, social patterns, ergonomics, budget, how it affects the community - these are crucial parts of how a person relates to their surroundings. The end goal, of course, is to create a space that enhances its users.
Through my education, internships and jobs I've experienced many kinds of design, all important to creating environments that are successful.
So welcome to my personal website. Inquisitive minds are welcome to explore my findings. And while you're here, feel free to drop a line. I'd love to hear from you.
I still have a few changes to make to this, but I'm really excited about this project with Michigan Energy Options optimizing their demonstration center in East Lansing, Mi.
They've asked me to create a series of renderings, and this is my favorite so far...mostly because I love gardens and the innovative landscaping used to curb storm water and reduce the Heat Island effect. They also have some other great sustainable elements like permeable pavement (allows water to pass through, again for storm water control and to enhance vegetation). MEO also does a great job with their composting center and edible gardens.
Check out their website here.
I'll have more soon in my portfolio.
