Now that I've graduated from Michigan State University, I've officially been invited to be a part of the United States Green Building Council Heart of Michigan Branch steering committee. It is a great honor to finally work on local sustainable initiatives with other individuals I have such high respect for. My co-worker Beverly and I will be the first females on board, and we're excited to join the action.
Right now our monthly LEED NC Interest Circle meetings take interested parties on tour of local LEED projects. Last month we went to the Accident Fund building, which is in the construction process. The level of certification is apparently secret, but my guess is that they will hit at least one platinum certification.
Other efforts have been made to create a course for LEED Green Associate training support for individuals interested in studying for the LEED test. That's still in the works, for now!
